HELP and ADVICE
At Personalised Cremation Urns we recognise the emotional and difficult period that families go through during what is undoubtedly the most devastating period of our lives, the loss of a loved one.
We have set out this simple guide below to offer advice on the process of what happens following the cremation, and what options are available with regards the ashes.

RECEIVING THE ASHES
You will collect the ashes from either your Funeral Director or Crematorium and these will typically be supplied in a plastic container with the ashes inside. The ashes are normally kept inside a clear plastic bag inside the plastic container to avoid any ashes being left in the container when transferring to another urn.

CHOOSING A NEW URN
Many families choose to house the ashes in a more suitable and more personal style of urn. The most important criteria when choosing an urn is the size or capacity. The vast majority of adults require a 3 litre size urn. If you are in any doubt please do not hesitate to contact our office where we can advise on individual circumstances. We have a huge range of quality urns that have been carefully selected to represent excellent quality and also offer a choice for all types of budgets.

KEEPSAKE URNS AND KEEPSAKE JEWELLERY
The vast majority of families choose to have accompanying keepsake urns as an individual reminder of their loved one. Many families choose a Principal urn of a particular style and then choose matching Keepsake urns in the same style but miniature versions. These serve as a lasting personal reminder and can store a
small amount of ashes and also any other treasured momentos such as a lock of hair or a photo. As many family members as required can receive a keepsake urn and many find it helps through the grieving process.

TRANSFERRING THE ASHES TO AN URN OF YOUR CHOICE
All our urns have a compartment where the ashes are loaded into. This may be a screwtop or base section that unscrews and is then re-attached. Some individuals
may find this movement of the ashes an emotional and difficult process. Comfort can often be found from asking family or friends to help with this procedure. Alternatively your Funeral Director may be able to assist on your behalf.

WHAT DO I DO WITH MY ASHES NOW
This is always a very personal decision and varies amongst families but the three most common choices are as follows.
1. BURIAL - The ashes placed into an urn and buried in a designated spot.
2. SCATTERING - The ashes scattered at an approved area.
3. DISPLAYED MEMORIAL - The ashes are kept in a place of remembrance normally in the home or at a crematorium.
